Most recently we caught up for a chat with Britney, a fitness blogger and health fanatic who’s incredible weight loss saw her embrace a new active and healthy lifestyle. This is the focus of her extremely popular blog, something which has earned her many followers and inspired others to achieve their fitness goals. We caught up with her to ask her a few questions on menswear, Instagram and more.

Can you tell us a little about what you do and how you got started?

I’m a health, fitness, and wellness Instagramer and blogger! I lost over 80 pounds about five years ago by following Weight Watchers, training with a trainer 3-4 times a week and having some serious dedication and persistence! About 1.5 years ago I was stuck on a plateau with my weight loss and started slowly putting some of my weight that I’d lost back on. I had to cut out my social life when I lost weight and when I started going back out with my friends (all of whom I love dearly but have never been overweight and love to eat and drink, which doesn’t make it easy at all!) I told myself I couldn’t regain the weight back that I had worked so hard to lose.

After a year or more of following other girls on Instagram with weight loss accounts, I decided to make one of my own! It was one of the BEST decisions I ever made on my journey. I started it over July 4th weekend, after seeing some pictures of myself and seeing how big my arms looked. I said I need something that will keep me motivated and make me focus on being healthy every single day. Since starting my account my story has helped so many people realise that they too can lose weight!

I never imagined that by sharing my journey and my tips and tricks from my weight loss journey that I would have such an impact. It still blows my mind daily! I recently got certified in personal training through NCSF and Equinox’s PT program so I can help impact others on their journeys even more by creating custom workouts and nutrition plans! Leading a healthy lifestyle and helping others with their weight loss goals is truly my passion! Although I was overweight over half of my life, I’m so grateful for my struggles, because without them I wouldn’t of discovered my greatest passion!

How’s your year been so far? Any major highlights?

2016, WOW! It’s already been a whirlwind of a year and it’s only just begun. I’ve started an awesome new job working in the health and wellness industry in LA and I just got the keys to my new Loft! Things are pretty great and hopefully the momentum will continue throughout the year! *fingers crossed*

What song do you currently have on repeat?

Break a Sweat by Becky G. “baby break a sweat, don’t get tired yet” I mean it’s just too catchy. Really great to listen to while working out too!

What fashion advice would you give to a man?

Express yourself and your personality through your clothes! I love when guys wear suits, but I also love seeing a guy in a funny t-shirt or awesome shades that he just can’t get enough of!

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

I would love to go back in time and tell my younger self that “It’s all going to be OK.” I spent a lot of my young adulthood upset about my body and I wish I’d just enjoyed my childhood — My advice would be “love your body, take care of your body, it’s the only body you have, treat it like a temple.” It’s so important for young girls to not have body image issues, but it’s almost impossible to avoid these days. It’s amazing what can happen when you learn to love yourself.

1 tip to expand your Instagram account?

Really figure out your niche and run with it. I knew I wanted to focus solely on weight loss and fitness and there’s a huge audience on Instagram for that. If fashion is your main game for example try to find a spin on it, great thrift finds or maybe you only wear high end — great, now focus on that and post, post, post! Also post about what you love, really let your personality shine through, people will come back again and again if they feel like they really know you.

What’s the one thing you never want to see a guy wearing?

Sweatpants. I know it seems ridiculous and unfair but keep those for lounging only!

Any major plans for the rest of the year?

Major plans for 2016! I’m attempting the #52hikechallenge this year (1 hike a week for a year!) It’s been a lot of fun so far-I’m trying to find different trails all around LA to explore. I just started a new job and moved into a new place so I definitely have big plans to excel at my job and also make my Loft Pinterest worthy!

I would also love to start a YouTube channel, start vlogging, get certified in pilates, foam rolling and TRX and keep helping as many people on their journeys as possible! My plate is FULL for this year and I’ve never been more excited!

What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Guilty pleasure of the moment is freshly ground, honey roasted peanut butter from Whole Foods. It’s so addictive. #cantstopwontstop

Who’s the most stylish man on the planet for you right now?

As cheesy as this may seem, my Dad. He’s always been the one to take me shopping and taught me how to dress for every occasion. He may not understand distressed denim but he’s the best dressed man I know!
