After completing her education at New York’s Parsons School of Design, and completing a series of apprenticeships in various fashion houses, fashion designer and blogger Carla Sta Cruz set up her own company where she was able to create pieces that showed off her love of elegant, statement designs that men and women could both enjoy.
As well as running her company, Carla spends her time updating her blog, focusing on fashion, her own issues with skincare, and her life as a busy fashionista. We caught up with her to hear what she’s been up to and her views on men’s fashion and style.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do and when you got into it?
I’m really not a fan of self-promotion, but I’m a fashion designer; and fashion, lifestyle and travel blogger and a self-proclaimed cake-addict. I’ve been designing since 2011 and been blogging for a year. I’m currently making fashion and makeup videos and learning more about photography. I like sharing my thoughts to the whole world wide web and so far its been great.
How’s 2016 been for you? Any major highlights?
I’ve met and interacted with a lot of Instagram followers and it has been a ride. I’ve been invited by a lot of publications to be in their magazines which is still a surreal experience for me. I also met a lot of Oscar nominees this year, like Patricia Arquette and Lady Gaga- it was fun playing celebrity news writer and photographer.
What song have you got on repeat at the moment?
Omigod. It’s my secret shame. It’s embarrassing to admit this in a men’s online magazine- it’s so girly. Its a tie between Carly Rae Jepsen “Your Type” and Me, Myself and I” by G-eazy.
What fashion advice do you have for a man?
Confidence is key- always. I’ve seen men dress in underwear, caveman hairpiece or rainbow hair but they pulled it off because they didn’t care what people thought of them. They loved their outfit and that’s all that mattered. When in doubt, just go for well tailored pieces that are timeless. A simple thing such as pressing your clothes can even go a long way.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?
To relax because things will be better and to believe in myself more, because I found out too late that I’m capable of anything. I realised that my life is limitless just now.
What are your tips to grow your Social Media following?
If you have nothing interesting to post, or you feel forced to post at least three times a day, don’t post it. Be authentic and just have fun with it.
What’s the one thing you never want to see a guy wearing?
Insecurity, or any form of it.
Any major plans for 2016?
Fully cover all the fashion weeks- from New York, Paris, Milan and even Tokyo. Explore fashion in Amsterdam. Most importantly, to write fearlessly.
What is your one guilty pleasure?
Shows that involve zombies- the Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and its web series. I’m a serious fan. Seamless web is also my crack.
Who’s the most stylish man on the planet for you right now?
My fiancé closely followed by Nigel Barker.
