SS16, what a time to be alive for a sneaker-head. Nike has brought back the best summer sneaker of all time, the Mayfly Woven. Not only have they brought back the modern classic, but they have graced us with five, yes I said five, updated colours for this summer.
Nike Mayfly Woven In Black
The black and white monochrome pair is perfect if you want a sleek pair of trainers with a premium feel. The moccasin design makes them stand out from being just another pair of black trainers.
Nike Mayfly Woven In Jade Glaze
Like the Terra Red, the Jade Glaze is another great summer staple. If you are a fan of the Mayfly Woven’s then I recommending you cop a pair of the monochrome colour-ways as well as a bright colour. If you wear a lot of blue denim then the Jade Glaze colour might be the pair for you.
Nike Mayfly Woven In Terra Red
The Terra Red edition of the pack is definitely a summer shoes to purchase. The contrasting white midsole makes the colour pop, turning your sneaker to your outfit centrepiece. The grey accents running throughout the design breaks things up, bringing the whole shoe together.
Nike Mayfly Woven In Bronze
The chestnut colour-way is the OG colour-way, a fan-favourite and definitely a standout. Even though it is a bold colour, you can easily slip these into your wardrobe, think raw denim.
Nike Mayfly Woven In Tumbled Grey
One of the more subtle colours in the pack is the grey. There is something oh so expensive looking about grey suede and these do not disappoint. They are dark enough for the colour-phobes of us, but light enough that they don’t blend into your sea of black trainers.
- Upper Suede construction

- Contrasting white mid-sole
- Woven technology enhances airflow and breathability

The Mayfly was launched in the 80’s as a low cost sneaker for running. It was the most affordable option of it’s time, and was popular due to the high quality in material compared to other brands.
In 2013, Nike decided to give the classic Mayfly silhouette an update, birthing the OG style of the Mayfly Woven. Recent returns of model hold the classic shape of the Mayfly but with added premium suede and leather.
