We know – it might not seem like summer is actually on its way yet, but we live in hope that the sun will make a miraculous appearance at some point in the near future. If there’s one thing we love at Idle, it’s a good drink (which we consume responsibly, of course). Summer always brings us a new wave of boozy summer editions that, this year, we’ve stuck our teeth right into. Take a look at our Top Picks.
Most Wanted Sparkling Wine
There is nothing worse than turning up to a summer BBQ or picnic to realise there is no alcohol there that you’re into – nobody should have to go through this tragic pain. The easiest way to avoid this nightmare scenario is by bringing your own booze, which is usually the norm when it comes to drinking at summer events. Our Top Picks has led us in the direction of many summer-appropriate drinks, but this selection has to be the most ideal for packing for your next BBQ or picnic.
Most Wanted is a brand that supplies the finest (and most delicious) sparkling wines… in a can! We’ve seen the canned Gin & Tonics and even the alcoholic iced coffees before, but we’ve not seen the canned sparkling wine until now. The wines come in two flavours of Sparkling Pinot Grigio and Sparkling Pinot Grigio Pink which both come in a four-pack of easy 200ml cans. Having tried them ourselves, we know what will be going straight in our baskets. Think it’s too feminine rocking up to a BBQ with these? How wrong you are. Nielsen (an American data information company) state that over a 1/4 of surveyed men prefer to drink sparkling pink wine over white, so we don’t really know what you’re waiting for.

Sipsmith London Cup
The London Cup my Sipsmith should be one of the key products on your shopping list this summer. This classy bottle brings you a twist on a bottle of summer gin, making for the perfect addition to any and every summer get-together.
The Sipsmith London Cup is a reimagined version of the traditional 1800s drink, one that we are glad has been brought back into our welcoming arms. The London Cup is created from a blend of Sipsmith’s award-winning London Dry Gin, combined with earl grey tea, borage, lemon verbena, rose petals and other botanicals. This concoction makes for a sweeter, strong and punchy drink that we found so refreshing when drank chilled on a hot day. We added it to a variety of other drinks from lemonade to elderflower, and there wasn’t one version we didn’t enjoy. Sipsmith, however, has suggested one of the best ways to enjoy this summer sipper, and (as all best drinks do) it comes in the form of an easy cocktail. Sipsmith calls it the ‘C’est Chic’.
What you need:
- 40ml London Cup
- 20ml Cherry Brandy
- 20ml Lime Juice
- Ginger Ale
How you do it:
It’s simple; all you need to do is build the drink in a tall glass with ice, stir it and then add whatever garnishing you wish.
Stock up with a bottle of Sipsmith London Cup for the summer ahead. More details are on the website.
There are a few things we love about Longflint. First of all, the packaging. Who doesn’t enjoy a drink that looks just as good as it tastes? We also love the fact that Longflint comes from a background of craft beer, so we know that they know exactly what they’re doing – with a twist. We also love how the Longflint drinks taste, and after trying one of their many flavours yourself, so will you.
Longflint creates an extensive range of handmade and hand-blended products that are now served across London in stores, bars, hotels and restaurants. With tonics, seltzers and sodas being mixed up with gin, rum and vodka, there is most definitely a Longflint drink out there to suit everyone. We think that all of them suit us, but what can we say – they’re just too good.
From Winter Spiced Pear, Vodka Tonic and the Ginger Rum Fuego to the Grapefruit, Sour Cherry & Mezcal Paloma, Rhubarb & Vodka Seltzer or the Rose Hip & Gin Fizz, you’ll find no shortage of flavours to stock up on for events this summer. They taste amazing and they look great; they are a conversation starter and a people pleaser. What more do you want?

Il Gusto Sparkling Vodka
Vodka is great, full stop. Sparkling vodka is simply even better. It might not be the manliest product we have in our Top Picks, but it’s most certainly one of the coolest. Male or female, who isn’t going to love a bottle of sparkling vodka if it’s set in front of them this summer?
So, “how does this vodka sparkle?”, we hear you ask. With gold. That’s how. Il Gusto has been featured a few times in our Top Picks, but this time it’s because we fell in love with the brand’s selection of vodka jazzed up with edible 22-carat gold leaves. The Il Gusto sparkling range actually covers a selection of wines, vodka and gins, but it’s the vodkas we managed to get our hands on. With a choice of gold vodka, pink vodka, gold ginger vodka and gold toffee vodka, there are enough bottles to last a whole BBQ, a pre-drinks for a summer festival or even to share with your partner on a summer date. Our Top Picks has to be the pink sparkling vodka. With a fruity kick to it, this is the go-to spirit to make your summer that little bit better.
See the whole range on the Il Gusto website.
It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, the weather always calls for a strong, aromatic glass of whisky. We’re big whisky fans here at Idle, so we like to think we know a good whisky when we see one. Our hunt for our top whisky didn’t take very long, not after we found Balblair, anyway.
Established in 1790, Balblair is a Highland distillery based on the coast of Dornoch Firth, Scotland. Balblair produces single malt scotch whisky, a smooth blend made the care and experience. Balblair takes careful pride in releasing the whisky at just the right times to ensure each small batch has optimised flavour and is of the highest quality. This full-bodied whisky packs a punch of flavour; something we can see ourselves sipping on on the rocks in the warm summer evenings. Giving off the house aromas of green apple, ground spices and honey and leaving the tastes of sweet, spicy toffee, make this classy Top Pick the showstopper for your summer drinks cabinet this year.
You can drink yours straight over some ice or add a little water to release the flavours some more. Or, why not add it to a cocktail, such as an Old Fashioned? Easy.

Nothing beats the feeling of chilling on hot summers day with some good music on and a glass of refreshing rosé in hand. If this is how you vision your summer going, then make sure the only chilled rosé you have in your hand is Mirabeau En Provence Rosé.
Mirabeau is a classy brand that brings sophistication back to a wonderful bottle of rosé. Long gone are the days where you pick any old bottle off the shelves; Mirabeau is the kind of rosé that you go out of your way to find. Made in Provence (as you may have guessed), this wine encompasses all of the qualities which you’d expect from a sun-drenched vineyard. It’s smooth, fruity and, as Mirabeau likes to describe “it’s like the good life in a glass”. We can’t disagree there.
We were lucking enough to get our hands on a bottle of Mirabeau Pure, the bottle with the minimal design and mesmerising pink colour. With flavours of wild strawberry, citrus, white flowers and a subtle touch of lychee, this rosé will have you feeling relaxed and replenished in the summer warmth. It’s gone to the top of our rosé picks; once you try it, we know it’ll go to the top of yours, too.

We’re all familiar with Rokorderlig cider – not a year goes past where we don’t have one in our hands at some point during the summer months. Rekorderlig has gained a strong reputation amongst the fruity cider lovers of the world, and the brand is about to capture thousands of new hearts with its new Rekorderlig Botanicals collection.
The new Rekorderlig range features three delicate and delicious flavours of Rhubarb, Lemon and Mint, Peach and Basil and Grapefruit and Rosemary. We’ve been lucky enough to try all three, and it’s almost impossible to pinpoint our favourite flavour. Sometimes, when you drink a cider, you are left with that heavy or bloated feeling afterwards; this doesn’t happen with the Rekorderlig Botanicals, making them the perfect summer drink. For a BBQ, a garden party or even as a festival pre-drink, the Rekorderlig Botanicals should be your new go-to. Coming in 330ml bottles and sold in every main supermarket, you know where to go to stock up this summer.

We love working with 31 Dover because there never is and never will be a lack of all-rounder and seasonal products on offer. 31 Dover stocks every kind of alcohol you’d ever possibly need, as well as all the fancy bits that come along with the drinking lifestyle. So, no matter what drinks you’re after this summer, be sure to check them out. For now, we have selected our top 3 products for our favourite summer drinks.
Ciroc Summer Colada
This one goes without saying, right? Who doesn’t love a) Ciroc b) a pina colada and c) pina colada flavoured Ciroc? It’s a no-brainer for us. As soon as we saw this summer edition of the infamous Ciroc vodka, we knew we had to try it… and my god, aren’t we glad we did.
A summer drink doesn’t get much better than this. Ciroc is one of those brands that comes hand-in-hand with that reputation of being ‘fancy’, ‘smooth’, ‘luxurious’ etc. It’s the bottle that looks good and tastes even better – what’s your favourite flavour? Whatever it is, we’d like to challenge it with the Summer Colada Ciroc flavour. Just like a pina colada, it’s sweet, easy to drink and incredibly easy to make. They simply suggest mixing it with some pineapple juice. If you’re feeling extra boujee, put it in a blender with some rum, pineapple juice, coconut water, a load of ice and pineapple chunks. Ok, we’ve just made that up, but we know it’ll be good.
Stock up with plenty of the Summer Colada Ciroc for every occasion this summer on the 31 Dover website.
Pink Hoxton Gin
No, this isn’t just another pink gin to add to your drinks cabinet. This is the new pink Hoxton gin to add to your whole summer (however bottles that may be).
The Hoxton Pink Gin is a bottle of bright pink goodness. The East London brand makes sure that all of the products follow this funky branding theme, making this bottle a fun, young and really yummy summer drink option. Breaking boundaries and reflecting the East London edginess on the gin, Hoxton Gin has made this pink concoction with an array of unusual flavours. With Juniper, Gunpowder Tea, Rosehip, Rose, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Orris, Liquorice, Camomile, Elderflower and Hibiscus Sugar all involved in the making and flavouring of the gin, you can be assured (by them and by us), that this gin will switch up any summer drink this year. What’s better? If you order now, you’ll get two free Hoxton Gin glasses to enjoy it in.
Find your bottle of Hoxton Pink Gin on the 31 Dover website.
Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla
It’s hard to beat the refreshing summer yearning of an orange; it’s even harder to resist the refreshing desire of an orange infused gin. Tanqueray has come back into our lives with its new gin flavour made with Seville oranges, and we couldn’t be happier.
The new Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla gives summer that zesty twist that we can all appreciate – a Gin & Tonic will never be the same! Inspired by Charles Tanqueray and his original recipes combined with the summer motion of the sun-kissed Seville, this uncomplicated and sophisticated gin will be the perfect step up from any ordinary gin this summer. You can drink the very delicious Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla simplistically with some tonic and a wedge of an orange or you can drink it jazzed up, added to one of your favourite cocktails. Feel as sunny as the gin you’re drinking this summer.
Get your bottle of Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla on the 31 Dover website.
Of course, we know this is tea, but we had to provide at least one option for those who don’t drink. And for those of you who do? Just add alcohol. Summer alcoholic drinks don’t get much better than this.
T2 sell the most amazing teas – this we already know – however, the brand takes us way beyond the world of a hot brew, offering a selection of cold drinks, too. T2 has a whole iced tea range full of different flavours that will see you through the whole of summer. Our favourites? The Southern Sunrise and the Packs A Peach concoctions. All you have to do to enjoy these is add the loose leaf tea to one of the T2 Iced Tea Jugs, add boiling water and set in the fridge overnight. In the morning, add chopped fruit of your choice and you’re good to go. For the adults, you can add a touch of gin.
These taste so good and are (without alcohol) healthy. You know exactly what you are putting into these iced teas, so it’s up to you whether you decide to drink them clean or with an added kick this summer.
Find yours on the T2 website.
