Although Denney has already had his share of successes so far, he still has a growing reputation. His 2012 banger ‘Ultraviolet’ was drafted into the Hot Creations collective and the vinyl reached the number 1 spot on the Juno downloads list. This earned him worldwide recognition in the music scene and since then he has firmly established himself as one of the North’s best DJ’s.
Leeds is where it all began for Denney, where he started out working at the excellent Back to Basics nightclub. Denney’s talent has seen him travel all over the world, but we’ve come to his hometown of Leeds to get a better insight to the town, and learn a little more about him in the process.
As the most well known city in Yorkshire, Leeds has a deep and traditional history and is a part of England’s heritage. This is reflected as Leeds was the location of the grand depart to the prestigious Tour De France in 2014. With a well respected football team and numerous museums, Leeds is an interesting city to see.

Where’s the best place for a first date?
The Man Behind The Curtain is probably the best restaurant in Leeds, they do a taster menu and the food is like pieces of art. A must visit if you come to Leeds!
Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?
Roundhay Park is truly beautiful. It has a lake which is great to walk around and clear your head or dust the cob webs off from a heavy weekend.
Where serves the best breakfast?
Dare in Headingley do a great fry up, it’s a small and very reasonably priced cafe which I discovered when I was a student, so I have been going there for over 10 years.
Where’s your favourite place to have a quiet drink?
The Deer Park in Roundhay, it’s a really nice pub with great drinks and food.
Where’s your favourite place to have a messier night?
Back to Basics! It has been at the heart of Leeds clubbing for 25 years and is an institution…always guaranteed a good night and has a tendency to get messy.
What would you wear for a night out in Leeds?
How would you describe your city’s style?
Vibrant, fun, something for everybody and the best music scene outside of London.
