How’s your year been so far? Any major highlights?
I would classify 2015 as a ‘building’ year. It is the first year I’ve been on my own as a freelancer and blogger with many ups and downs, the latter of which I like to call ‘learning moments.’ In March, I launched a hair care line with my mother called SOTAH (State of the Art Hair) – definitely a highlight and something I’m looking forward to growing with her in 2016. I’ve been able to collaborate with some really cool brands this year and I’ve also been travelling quite a bit, which has been incredible and an answer to what I wished for in 2014 (be careful what you ask the universe!). I visited Greece for the first time (my new favourite destination), St. Barts, Rome, Florence, and Paris. I’d love to do more in the new year and build up my travel portfolio.
What song have you got on repeat at the moment?
“Alive” by Sia. It literally speaks about everything that’s happened and is currently happening in my life. I have version two of the music video conjured up in my head and the idea of it has something to do with climbing a waterfall. Side note: I wanted to be a music video director when I was little; I guess there’s still time.
What’s the most important thing about a guy’s style to you?
A proper fit. Without question this applies to a suit, but even an oversized jacket or loose fitting pants still need to fit the guy and align with his body shape and proportions.
What fashion advice do you have for a man?
Start with a really good, simple black blazer. Invest in a quality one that’s tailored to your body perfectly, but still has a little room to layer a lightweight piece underneath. You can wear it as it is with a great t-shirt, dress up the look with slacks and a button-up (the obvious); or get creative with hoodies, overcoats, parkas, denim jackets and more. I find that a black blazer is universal and keeps an essential degree of tailoring to any look you go for.
One tip to grow your Instagram account.
Content is king and consistency is key. Think about it, Instagram was built to visually share life’s moments; give the community you’ve built a perspective they can’t get anywhere else and take them to another world based on your interests. Once you figure that out, keep going with the same tone of voice in your captions.
What’s the one thing you never what to see a guy wearing?
Crocs. Like… Never.
Worst dating experience you’ve had?
I think I need more dating experiences to have one!
Who’s the most stylish man on the planet for you right now?
I’d say Pelayo Diaz. He’s a really cool Spanish blogger and television personality with an insane sense of style. It’d be cool to meet him one day.
