It's not everyday that you move from your native country to a whole new city to start a modelling career, but that's exactly what French born model, Jimmy Luanay did. Since moving from France to London and back again, his career has seen him model for global ecommerce retailer, ASOS amongst other publications and magazines.
Now back in his native France, Jimmy talks to us about his style rules, what keeps him going everyday and a little advice for any aspiring models out there looking to get into the business.
Can You Tell Us a Little About Yourself?
I'm a model for a living, I'm not sure there is more to say about it! It's a cool job, but at the end of the day, I go back home, jump in my pyjamas and play FIFA!
If You Could Tell Your Younger Self One Thing What Would it Be?
Live every moment to the fullest. I'd like to say that I am still doing it but I'm not. I've unfortunately had to learn the word 'bills' and taxes in the mean time.
What's Your Favourite Thing About Being a Model?
I used to love the parties, then I fell in love with travelling. Now, I would say I really appreciate the friends I made during those parties and travels.
What Is Your Go-To Outfit?
White T-shirt, jeans and boots.
What Do You Think is an Absolute Necessity for Any Man's Wardrobe?
The pieces that I stated above!
Do You Have Any Rituals or Routines you Live by?
My coffee in the morning, my coffee after my morning coffee and my coffee post lunch.
What's Your Favourite City in the World and Why?
Pre-Brexit London. I felt anything was possible. I came to London with no money and I accomplished things I thought weren't possible anywhere else. Then Brexit happened and I quit. It was the end of a cycle for me. I'm still look for my new Eldorado.
What Style Rule is Essential for Men to Know?
Even if I give you one, it will be obsolete in 2 months. Fashion goes too fast and the rules change too quickly.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Models?
If you want to embrace this career, go for it. You’ll learn that, when everything is going well, it's amazing, but you’ll find that 20 castings are needed to get one job. Even when it’s tough, keep believing in yourself.
Do You Have Any Exciting Projects Coming Up?
After 3 years in London I've recently moved to Paris. That’s pretty exciting because it feel like starting over. With the good and the bad.
How Do You Think French Style Compares to British Style?
The British is definitely more classy. Always smart, always polite. The French is more true. If he is having a tough day you’ll see it.
