It's that time of year again when celebrities from far and wide doll themselves up for the awards season. This is a particularly special award show as this time around it was the BAFTA's, the British Oscars, one of the pinnacle awards that an actor can achieve in their career, and, they've come out dressed to impress this year.
Many people probably wouldn't be bothered about what the men are wearing as the women tend to take the limelight away. However, here at Idle HQ we like to pay attention to the detailed tuxedos and polished patent derby shoes that have graced the red carpet this year in style. From Eddie Redmayne to Idris Elba, we've narrowed down some of the best dressed men in town and why they've got it cracked.
1. Eddie Redmayne
Probably one of the greatest actors of our generation, Eddie Redmayne not only has talent, but he has style to match with it as well. Known for his love of British fashion powerhouse, Burberry, he not only epitomises classic british style, but embodies it at the same time. We certainly think he has what it takes to become one of the most stylish men of all time here at The Idle Man.
2. Idris Elba
Known for his roles in Luther and playing one of the most iconic people of all time, Nelson Mandela, Idris Elba has got a talent for style as well. With his recent collaboration with high street shop Superdry, Idris has gone from strength to strength. Seen here with a classic black tux with satin lapels he has nailed style at the Bafta's this year.
Adding a little difference with a black shirt instead of a white alternative, he really makes this look his own, and here at Idle HQ we think its a pretty spot on look to strut down the red carpet in.
3. Max Irons
Mac Irons is one of those stars that just seem to get it right all of the time without even trying. Jealous. But his roles in films such as Riot Club may have prepared him for his red carpet looks. Channeling a classic tux, but with a difference, in navy, he is one of those guys that just seem to get it right each and every time with such ease and "oh, what this thing". We certainly approve here at Idle HQ.
4. John Boyega
Rising star John Boyega is a new kid on the block with his debut film being Star Wars (very impressive) and being one of those home-grown talents that every seem to just love. We certainly do here at The Idle Man.
Not everyone can pull off a velvet tuxedo jacket, but John certainly can. Teamed with a pair or classic tuxedo trousers and patent derby shoes he is creeping up in the style stakes and making his own path when it comes to fashion. We're rooting for you John!
5. Leonardo DiCaprio
One of the greatest actors in history graced the red carpet at the Bafta's this year, yes, that's right, Leonardo DiCaprio. The Titanic, Romeo & Juliet and The Great Gatsby star has been on our screens since he was a young teenager, and now he is taking on some of the most challenging roles in film history. But we're not here to talk about that, we're here to talk about what he was wearing!
Leonardo kept it classic with a timeless tuxedo, white shirt and dickie bow tie. His jacket, however, was navy and had a slight hint of pattern - not noticeable at first glance, but once caught by the eye, it's difficult not to see the spot on look that DiCaprio was wearing.
Try It Yourself
If you're off to a more formal event that requires you to wear black tie then why not give this formal look a go. This slim fitting tuxedo jacket from yours truly, The Idle Man is spot on to team with a pair of tuxedo trousers and crisp white button down shirt.
Throw on a pair of more formal such, such as these brogues from Dr Marten's, and a dickie bow tie (a black tie outfit wouldn't be complete without one) and you'll be good to go this and every season.
