A certified social media influencer, Andy has been successful in taking over YouTube and Instagram, where he has over 2,000 and 12,000 followers respectively. His YouTube channel releases a new post every Monday, and often features some of his equally talented friends to talk about interesting and oftentimes inspiring stories such as his near-death experience (yikes!) and his relationship with his family.
Andy’s unassuming fashion sense is another thing that caught our eye, and judging by the Likes on his Instagram posts, we can see that he has truly built a reputation as a low-key fashionista. He may not wear bright and flashy colors, but he makes up for it with his fun personality and colourful ideas.
How’s your year been so far? Any major highlights?
2015 has been full of a lot of growth and learning for me, I would have to say. Throughout the year, I've learnt a lot about my strengths and interests as a person. I have grown as an activist, and met a lot of valuable friends and contacts along the way. I make videos every week on my YouTube channel, and things have picked up this year as I am now the official spokesperson for PlayList Live - a large social media convention for content creators and fans to meet! I have videos going up on both their and my channel now, and my visibility in the online world is coming along!
What song have you got on repeat at the moment?
At the moment, my song on repeat is by YouTuber Troye Sivan. The song "Heaven" is on his newly released album Blue Neighborhood and features the stunning Betty Who. I listen to it when I'm looking for inspiration and overall I find it to be an amazing song with a phenomenal message behind it. The album focuses on growing up as someone of LGBTQ+, and it's great to see people from YouTube making an impact with the work that they do, especially Troye.
What’s the most important thing about a guy’s style to you?
When I think about a guy's style, an important thing to keep in mind is the cost. A lot of my friends comment about what other people are wearing, and I truly think that your style comes from your trendy habits that don't break the budget. A guy who is able to keep a low cost variety really speaks volumes to someone like me. I don't spend a lot of money when it comes to clothes, but that doesn't mean I don't have good taste!
What fashion advice do you have for a man?
For any guy out there, I think the best fashion tip is just to tell a friend that you want to change up your look or even find some unique styles. Going with a friend shopping really helps me get a sense of what I like and what it could look like with another set of eyes out there. Looking at a variety of v-necks and denim jackets may need an extra set of eyes!
One tip to grow your instagram account
Growing your Instagram account can be a challenge at times. What I often do is look at who my friends are following and get inspiration for what my content should be geared towards or what others are posting about. I like to keep my Instagram as a sort of gallery that has more than just your average selfie, too. Sometimes I go on mass followings and keeping those that I find have truly unique content that inspires me to take a picture of a cheeseburger in the most unique way possible.
What’s the one thing you never want to see a guy wearing?
Honestly, I would not like to see a guy trying to bring any form of camouflage into style. Until I figure out how to do that, please don't go sporting your camo blazer out in public.
Worst dating experience you’ve had?
I think the worst dating experience I have had is actually when I went on a date with someone and I didn't know it was actually a date until months later. This guy wanted to grab food with me one time, and then later down the road apologised about the date we went on when he had a boyfriend. I mean he was great and all, but I didn't know I was going on a date in the first place!
Any major plans for the rest of 2015?
For the rest of 2015 I'm heading home for the holidays and working on growing my YouTube channel. I plan on making videos and scheduling my time a little better so that I can focus on both channels I am working on. I am trying to plan out trips within the next few months for travel while still being in college and working with a lot of activism causes as well. So much of the world to see and learn about!
Who’s the most stylish man on the planet for you right now?
Pretty much I would have to say that Justin Timberlake has the style any man can dream of. From causal to dressy, Justin can make any outfit work for literally any day. Personally kind of jealous of those sweaters he always seems to pull of, but that's just me.
