When you've been born and raised in a city like Manchester, a certain amount of pride is instilled in you from birth. It's a city that has seen some hard times throughout history, but the immediate sense of determination flows throughout the Northern nirvana. That same attitude creates much of the city's character and this is what you find in its people. Nobody knows that better than Pirate Copy.

One of Manchester's brightest talents, Pirate Copy, aka Lee Spence, has shot to fame in the last few years, having music relased on Kaluki, elrow and playing for DO NOT SLEEP in Ibiza. It's safe to say that Pirate Copy have had a busy 2017 and it's only going to get busier when they start playing at multiple Warehouse Project events in the winter. Check out Pirate Copy's guide to Manchester and see what you make of the city.

Where's the first place you go when you’re back in the city?

I normally head straight home to catch up on some sleep or do some work in the studio. If I am going out for some food, Cottonopolis  They serve pan Asian food and good drinks.

The best place for a first date?

Check out Bongo’s Bingo at Albert Hall - it’s a new twist on Bingo and it’s really good fun!

What’s a hidden gem in the city?

There is a record shop called Eastern Bloc that serves great coffee and cakes while you can listen to some new techno!

Where would you go to chill out?

I would normally leave the city to chill... There's a great place called Dovestone Reservoir just outside Manchester that's good to get some fresh air and walk off the hangover!

Check out Gorilla on Whitworth Street.

Where’s your favorite place to have a quiet drink?

The Refuge is my new favourite place to go for a drink, it’s Manchester's hottest new restaurant/bar.

Best place to go clubbing?

Probably the Warehouse Project if they’re in season which is September to December. If not, maybe the Albert Hall or Gorilla.

Favourite place to go shopping?

I love a shop called Oi Polloi - it's on Thomas street in the Northern quarter.

I would describe Manchester’s style as modern, urban and chic.

One song that sums up your city?

It’s a little obvious but... New Order - Blue Monday is Manchester.
