The Idle Man take a trip round Cardiff with DJ & producer, BMotion, from Viper Recordings.
We're travelling only 150 miles West of our office in London today to bring you another installment of our My City series in Cardiff. We catch up with Viper Recordings' artist & drum & bass producer BMotion for his insight into the city he knows best. BMotion in truth is not originally from Cardiff, as his hometown is actually Pontypool in South Wales.
As Cardiff is only down the road, he is fortunate to enjoy the city of Cardiff and be able to escape from it for some quiet time. Having two different locations can only be good for him to draw contrasting inspirations from so let's see how the bright lights of the city have influenced him. With the release of his latest double-sided single, 'Arabia/ Ignition', it couldn't be a better time to catch up with this exciting rising star from the Viper camp.

Where’s the best place for a first date?
My girlfriend and I had our first date in a pub called The Traveller's Rest, which is really close to where we now live! So I’d have to say there! Besides that, I would personally say a nice chilled pub is the ideal place, of which there are plenty in Cardiff, and it also gives the opportunity for both parties to exit if it doesn’t quite work.
And how would you dress to impress?
Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?
Again close to where I live is 'Caerphilly Mountain'. If you catch it at the right time, you can sit for an hour or so without anyone else coming by and enjoy the wonderful views. Cardiff Bay is also really nice, especially on a summer’s day, just as the sun is setting giving great views across the water.
Where serves the best breakfast?
The Pot Cafe on Crwys road is a nice place for breakfast. Good food and a relaxed vibe! They also do great smoothies.
Where’s your favourite place to party?
I don't really go to clubs any more, but I’ve had many a good night in Live Lounge. It can get really busy there so best to get in early! The Brewery Quarter is close to a lot of action also.
What would we see you wearing?
Where’s your favourite place to have a quiet drink?
The Chapel, which is a converted church in the centre is a good place for a relaxed quiet drink. It's also close to all the action if you feel like getting involved as well.
How would you describe your city’s style?
I think Cardiff has a bit of everything to be honest! On the weekends it tends to be dominated by the latest fashions, and women who obviously don't feel the cold when they venture out in not very much! But you can see all walks of life at some point whilst in Cardiff, which I think adds to it being such a friendly place.
Where are your favourite places to shop?
Cardiff is well laid out and has a street called 'Queen Street' with shops either side of you and you'd be hard pushed not to find something just walking along there alone. But if you venture into some of the off street arcades you can find some really cool independent shops.
How would you sum up your city?
Friendly, Fun and easy to navigate.
