We're off to the capital of Serbia to the bustling city of Belgrade, or The White City, with our tour, drum and base DJ Rahmanee

Check out the rest of our My City Guides

DJ Rahmanee started off like many successful DJs before him, earning his popularity through hard work and talent, remixing popular tracks at the time and adding his own signature twist to them. As his popularity began to grown, his love of the dancehall genre inspired him to start producing his own tunes, resulting in hit tracks such as The Stopper, which was played by some of the biggest names in drum'n'bass music. Producing mainly for the German label Breaks Per Minute, Rahmanee has created songs that are a staple in clubs all over the world.

Where’s the best place for a date?

The most romantic place for dates is Gardosh, the old fortress in Zemun (part of Belgrade outside city). There is an old cobble street alongside the river Danube with stunning views and many great fish restaurants where you can enjoy local wines and schnapps.

Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?

Belgrade has a beautiful lake called Ada Ciganlija with a 7.5 km long coast. During sunny days I tend to spend my time there playing sports or just chilling in the sun.

Where serves the best breakfast?

Most restaurants in Belgrade have special offers for breakfast which is usually good. I can recommend a fast food restaurant with super tasty and quality meals - HOT GOOD in the center. If you eat there by 2pm you get a nice dessert for free.

Where’s your favourite place for a messy one?

Serbian national food is very strong, consisting of a lot of meat and proteins, so if I am very hungry I would chose to go to places like Čubura, Stara Hercegovina or Užice (this one has 24/7 service).  For international kitchens I would recommend: Radost, Zaplet, Tezga.

Where are your favourite places to shop?

Board Shop suits my everyday, casual style as well as popular local brands: Dechko Tzar, Zla-Zla and Kobazz Shop.

Where’s your favourite place to have a quiet drink?

Greenet or Coffee Dream.

Do you have a fact about your city not a lot of people know?

Belgrade is a 2 million people city without a metro but with the cheapest tobacco, alcohol and flat rent.

What song sums up your city?

Prti Bee Gee - Rajski Grad (Serbian gangster rap version of  GNR - Paradise City)
