Today’s My City is in Basel, Switzerland where we are walking and talking around the city with Andrea Oliva. The dance music DJ has a set of surroundings when compared to his music has relative similarities.
Basel is a tranquil and artsy city that has often gone under the radar when compared to Switzerland corporate cities. This is reflected in Andrea Oliva’s style of dance music, with an under-layered bass and a slightly spirited melody, Basel has a lot more to offer than meets the eye.

Where’s the best place for a first date?
It’s a place called Münster in the old part of Basel's city centre. Behind the Münster church you have a park where you look out over the Rhine. It’s particularly spectacular at night.
What will you wear for a first date?
Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?
The best spot in the summer must be along the Rhine – it's super chilled.
Where serves the best breakfast?
Les Garecons is a beautiful bar and restaurant placed in the Badischer train station. Now that you've asked me I think it's a good idea to go there tomorrow morning :)
Where’s your favourite place to have a quiet drink?
Conto Bar is the nicest bar in Basel - good people, drinks and antipasti.
What will you find your wardrobe to wear?
Where’s your favourite place to have a messier night?
There is only one place - and it's called Nordstern club. The line up and vibe are always totally on point!
Are you going to step out for a night out in this?
How would you describe your city’s style?
Very chilled! It's a small city where you can almost walk from place to place and you get to know a lot of people. It's a city with village flair and a village with city flair :-) It's also a city of art because of Art Basel and we have several museums. You have to check out Fondation Beyeler - it's absolutely stunning. Culture is at home here!
Where are your favourite places to shop?
I'm not really up to date with the shopping situation here as I am away so much and once I am back home, shopping is not really my top priority :) I remember there are a lot of really nice vintage and second hand shops in Grossbasel though.
What song sums up your city?
Joe Cocker "Summer in the city"
