We're heading to Catalonia for this week's My City, and Girona is our destination. Our tour guide for this week is international DJ & Producer Dosem, a man who knows Girona from the inside out.
Dosem gained glabal notoriety off the back of his early release ‘Beach Kisses’, and has gone on to produce a back catalogue packed with big tracks as well as three, full length albums. With his latest album being called 'City Cuts', there really is no better time to take a look into the city that shaped Dosem, Girona. Check out Dosem's new album 'City Cuts' below:
Where’s the best place in for a first date?
There are beautiful bridges that connect the city, those are a good place to meet and then walk around the old town.
Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?
Girona’s old town is a great place to walk around and clear your mind.
Where serves the best breakfast?
Any bar with good views to the Onyar River.
Where’s your favourite place to party?
At the moment “Platea Club” is one of the best clubs in the city in my opinion.
Where’s your favourite place to drink?
Anywhere if it’s in a good company, sharing a good conversation…but there’s a very nice place called “Sunset Jazz Club” where you can listen to great music as well. There are also other nice spots like “Celtic Bar”, "El Doll" and "Els Jardins de La Mercè” to name a few. In that area all the streets around Plaça del Vi, Ciutadans, Cort Reial, Ballesteries, Calderers, De La Barca, Pl. Sant Pere, etc. are full of nice bars and restaurants.
What’s your earliest memory of your city?
From very young age…I remember visiting Girona’s cathedral and old town streets with my parents. That memory sticks with me best.
What one song sums up your city for you and why?
That’s a hard one. But some years ago I produced one song named “146” which was very much inspired by my city as scenario. It talks about love, the same love I have for Girona. I belong to this city.
Where are your favourite places to shop?
There are very cool shops around La Rambla de la Llibertat.
Do you have a fact about your city not a lot of people know?
Many of these things are already known because it’s a very touristic city, but if you seek for more information there are a lot of legends and cool curiosities around our old town history. It’s also a beautiful place to live, surrounded by mountains and the beach is just half an hour away. We have with many good restaurants, the best of them “El Celler de Can Roca” selected the world’s best restaurant this year.
