For many new and rising street photographers, the question is always ‘how to get the perfect street style shot’.
There are many factors to include when trying to achieve the perfect shot and I could continue with all the technical jargon with camera’s but all that is unnecessary if you know what you want.
As a photographer, there are three things that I look for when shooting street style.
Style & Character
Style for me is the most important aspect of accomplishing the perfect shot. Street style does not and should not be overdone, the simpler the better as it is about the subject as much as it is the clothes. The combination of style and character in a shot can be quite powerful and for me really stands out.
This is another important point in street style photography. If a shot is too composed, it takes away the character from the image and without character the shot becomes average looking.
Capturing the moment in street style is another essential part to street style. If you can combine all three elements when taking pictures on the street or during Fashion week you end up with the perfect street style shot.
