The Idle Man's Eastern Electrics 2015 Festival Review

Earlier this summer The Idle Man design team descended onto the historic Hatfield House for this years Eastern Electrics festival. Now in its eighth year running we were very excited to see what the day of tech-house heavyweights had in store for us. Originally starting off as a series of weekend warehouse raves, the franchise now consists of multiple stages attracting both chart toppers and underground acts.

The 2015 roster included the likes of Skream, DJ EZ, Jamie Jones, Mike Skinner, Delano Smith, Jasper James, Floorplan, Miguel Campbell, Richy Ahmed, TEED, 2 Bears, Mele, Woz, Sante and Boddika. Check out the DJs and attendees we snapped for our street style section here

Upon arrival and with the great weather increasing everyones mood, our first stop was at the Skreamizm tent where we caught Midland. It was immediately apparent that the tent organisers were not playing around. We were blown away by the sound that the RC-1 sound system was producing.

The fairly small site made navigation easy as you were never a few minutes from the next stage. Not to say we were short of options however. The diversity of the line-up meant you could jump from seeing Sante on Sankey’s club stage to Mele in the Black Butter Records forest. It was great to see new acts accompanied by OG’s such as Floorplan, Delano Smith and Matt Jam Lamont. The more intimate and spontaneous Tropical Tea Party stage spun funk and soul classics all day, which we had no problem getting down to.

As the day’s end loomed ever closer, we were getting increasingly concerned about our inability to choose between headliners Jamie Jones, DJ EZ and Skream. This decision was made a bit easier due to the huge amount of people wanting to see EZ play which unfortunately cut his set short. Sad times.

All in all, it was a great and memorable day of electronic music. We happened to bump into people who made the journey down from Scotland which cements Eastern Electric’s appeal. If your legs still had any life left in them there were even after parties in two different locations for those wanting to continue onto the early hours.

Enjoy the photo re-cap below and be sure to look out for next year’s announcement!
