Tips & Tricks
- Drink More Water –
You cannot survive without water, it’s one of the most crucial elements you need in order to live. From regulating your body temperature, lubricating joints it also aids digestion and nutrient absorption. Water cruises around your body transporting waste products including toxins and releases them through urination, breathing and sweating. With such a demanding role to get rid of any nasties inside of you it’s important to drink your daily recommended water which for men is 3.7 litres a day and 2.7 litres for women so your body can perform this task efficiently.
- Eat Antioxidant-Rich Foods –
Focus on a rich diet that’s high in antioxidants and avoid relying on supplements for extra vitamins and minerals because if you take these for a prolonged time they can cause health risks of their own. Do some research before you next go for your weekly shop and find out foods which are high in vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin. You will find most of these in your fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices, coffee and green tea.
- Feed Your Probiotics –
Your gut is key to detoxifying your system. It has cells designed for detoxification to eliminate bacteria and waste which protects you from harmful build-up of toxins and illness. Prebiotics is a type of fibre that feeds the good bacteria called probiotics when there is an unbalanced amount of good and bacteria caused by antibiotics, poor dental hygiene and other factors then it can become harmful to you.
- Avoid Too Much Salt –
Consuming too much salt in your diet can cause your body to retain excess fluid. Like putting salt on your food it dries it out, so imagine filling your body with excess salt, it’s obvious that it will cling onto every bit of water/fluid it could causing you to bloat. Surprisingly a great way to stop your body from retaining water is by drinking more water because when you take in too much salt your body releases an antiuretic hormone preventing you from urination. Thus drinking more water and consuming less salt with help your body flush those toxins out of your body and keep you healthy.
- The Importance of Sleep –
Doing all these very easy and useful tips can be further enhanced by a quality night’s sleep to support your body and it’s natural detoxification system. Whilst sleeping your brain recharges itself so it can recognise toxin build ups in all areas of the body. Toxin build ups can lead to serious health issues down the line for example build ups of beta-amyloid has been linked to contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. You should aim to get between seven to nine hours of sleep each evening for your brain to function at its best.
