This week our My City series continues as we take a trip to Bratislava with drum & bass producer, L Plus. With his heavyweight One Tonne Of Bass EP out now on Technique Recordings, L Pluss continues to deliver atmospheric yet totally dancefloor-ready tracks that are sure to get your face screwed and body moving. Now a key part of the Technique Recordings roster, he's an artist that has developed in huge ways ever since bursting onto the scene just a few short years ago.
To get a greater understanding of what influences him as an artist and how his home city of Bratislava has influenced his musical and sartorial tastes, we thought we'd jump on the next flight there and take a guided tour around the capital of Slovakia. If you're heading there anytime soon, these are the places you need to head to for romance, good food and a few too many drinks.
Keep updated with L Plus' movements on his Soundcloud | Facebook | Twitter
Where’s the best place for a first date?
It’s got to be the Bratislava Castle, where there's a beautiful view of the old city centre and the river Danube. It’s pretty quiet there with a few benches and nooks and crannies for chilling. Just a few minutes walk down the castle street you can get to the old centre full of restaurants and bars.
What would you be wearing?
Where’s your preferred place to chill and clear your head?
Garden of Janko Kral on the other side of river Danube, it's the quietest place with big grass areas and old trees where you can rest alone or with mates.
Where serves the best breakfast?
Massimo Ristorante in Riverpark. With some of the best Italian cousine in the city from the Italian chief where you can get really good espressos.
What would you be rocking for breakfast here?
Where’s your favourite place to have a quiet drink?
Pub U Certa is the one where you can get a drink or two. It’s really cosy, a small place with a bunch of people standing in front of the pub all the time.
Where’s your favourite place to party?
It’s the club Dole in the centre of Bratislava. On weekends you can easily find this club as it's got a long line of people trying to get in. There are the best drum & bass gigs with the best sound, bars, girls and it’s pretty often sold out.
What clobber would we see you in?
Where are your favourite places to shop?
Bory Mall on the west end of the city is the new shopping centre with a selection of shops which suits me. And of course there’s an IMAX, essential nowadays!
What song sums up your city?
This one, very old track in a new modern version. I think this one is Bratislava perfectly summed up.
