What Is The Buriti Fruit

The buriti palm tree - scientific name Mauritia flexuosa - flourishes in tropical climates, so it's mostly seen in the Amazon Rainforest in South America. The buriti palm tree looks like most other palm trees, with its defining feature being the pale yellow flowers that come out in the rainy season lasting from December to April.

The husk of the buriti fruit is textured, dark brown and shiny - almost like a hybrid of a chestnut and a pinecone. The fruit inside is a vibrant yellow with a texture similar to a mango. There's also an edible nut inside, which is the seed of the plant. The buriti fruit has been a food source for a long time and is still used to this day to flavour a wide range of foods.

Buriti Oil

Oil from the buriti fruit is an amazing natural product from the Amazon rainforest. The plant has been used for many years but only recently has it become recognised worldwide for its major health benefits. Buriti oil is a natural source that's richest in beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is found a lot in carrot seed oil, but since discovering that buriti oil contains a lot more this has made it much more popular. The oil is fairly rich in unsaturated fatty acids, and contains vitamin E and A which are all good for your skin and general health.

Buriti Oil For Skin

Buriti oil for skin has many benefits. The main ones being accumulated from its cooling, soothing and reviving properties. This helps to keep your skin relaxed and refreshed. As well as these factors, buriti oil is rich in nutrients meaning it can heal and give your skin the mineral it needs. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant found in the oil which can help protect the skin and improve any premature ageing. It gives your skin some life and promotes healthier looking skin from the inside out.

Fatty acids are another massive benefit that's extracted from the oil. This may not sound like something that would be good for you but you need some natural, healthy fats in your life in order for your body to function properly. The fatty acids help with wrinkle prevention by plumping and firming the skin therefore reducing the appearance of any lines. As well as helping with ageing factors, the fatty acids are a natural moisturiser than helps to keep your skin looking hydrated and refreshed all day long.

The vitamin E that's found in the buriti oil is great for the protection against any environmental stressors. This helps to shield you from the factors we face in everyday life, locking in moisture and keeping your skin looking healthy and protected. Beta-carotene goes hand in hand with the vitamin E benefits as it also helps to lock out any external stressors.
